  • Using credits for salary advancement

Each employer set its own requirements and defines the number and types of credits it will accept for salary advancement or other purposes.

The individual participant is solely responsible to verify that credits from ASPD and/or UMass Global will be accepted for the purpose intended BEFORE enrolling in a course.

Neither ASPD nor UMass Global can guarantee that courses or credits will apply for any specific purpose since states, accrediting bodies, licensing entities, and employers can change requirements at any time.

  • My school, district, or employer will pay all of part of the costs

  • What courses will I need to take for my ESL or Bilingal endorsment/add-on?

Each STATE defines its own specific requirements.

    1. Consult the State's licensing website
    2. Review existing transcripts to determine if you took one or more of the courses defined by the State.
    3. Enroll in the courses for which you are unable to locate a comparable course on yor transcript.

Some states, such as IL, accept applications BEFORE all licensing requirements are completed.  The process is as follows:

    1. Apply for an endorsement (or more than one) through ELIS, the State's online licensing system
    2. After reviewing all transcripts submitted, ISBE issues the applicant a Deficiency Letter in which "missing requirements" are defined.  This letter is VALID FOR TWO (2) YEARS.
    3. The applicant completes the requirements listed as deficiencies and submits new transcripts
    4. No new application or fee is required IF the deficiencies are completed within two (2) years of the date the Deficiency Letter was issued.
